Archives

Archivists ensure that records which have value as authentic evidence of corporate, cultural and intellectual activity are kept, maintained and used. The work of archivists ensures that different types of archives, whether paper based or electronic, are retained for personal, corporate and social memory.

The Peter Lawson Archive was established to honour the historical work undertaken by Victorian Urologist, the late Peter Lawson. As Archivist of the Peter Lawson Archive, Fay Woodhouse has created a database to capture a range of biographical data on members – their career details and publications as well as recording oral histories. As well as being retained in electronic form, the analysis of the Archive data will shed light on issues as diverse as the establishment of urology units across the state, training, professional development, new procedures, gender and race. The database will be available to members via the web.
